Yanki Yarman: Linking Genetic Variants to Clinical Outcomes in Thrombosis

Yanki Yarman, MD and Ph.D. Student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Marvin T. Nieman, published in ASH, adding:

“I’m truly touched and honored by this Blood commentary penned by Dr. Marvin Nieman on my PhD project.

I’m especially grateful for his description of our study and its comprehensive methods ‘as a model for future studies aiming to connect genetic variants with molecular mechanisms and clinical outcomes.’

As a physician-scientist in training, I care deeply about genetically screening patients and understanding the molecular pathways underlying their diseases.

I hope to practice personalized medicine in the near future.

Here’s the Blood commentary on the GRK5 variant that we linked to increased thrombotic risk.”
