Al-Ola A Abdallah on MGUS-Related Bleeding Disorders
Al-Ola A Abdallah, Associate Professor and Director of the Plasma Cell Disorder Program at the University of Kansas Medical Center, has shared a post on X:
“4 bleeding disorders might be associated with MGUS:
- Acquired von Willebrand disease (AvWD) — paraprotein clears or binds vWF
- Acquired factor inhibitors (esp. FVIII, rarely FXIII)
- Dys/hypofibrinogenemia — paraprotein interferes with fibrinogen
- Platelet dysfunction — coating/inhibition by paraprotein”
