VBRI was Recently Included in a BBC Story on the World’s Rarest Blood Type
Versiti Blood Research Institute Published a post on LinkedIn:
“VBRI was recently included in a BBC story on the world’s rarest blood type: Rh null blood type. Just 50 people in the world are known to have it and it’s sometimes called “golden blood” because Rh null blood is compatible with many blood types.
Back in 2021, VBRI immunologists used CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing technology to create customized rare blood types, such as Rh null, in the lab. Engineering Rh null red blood cells represents a huge step forward in making rare blood more accessible.
