”Stroke in patients with cancer is common (1 every 7 patients), yet it is becoming extremely challenging to understand patient prognosis and goal-of-care, especially in the time-pressured environment of acute stroke care, resulting in missed/delayed acute treatment (not really in keeping with “Time is Brain”).
This is a call for oncologists, please provide upfront: (i)life expectancy (> or < 6 months?), (ii) goal-of-care (resuscitate, medical or comfort?), and (iii) intent of oncologist treatment (curative or palliative). Help us treat these patients better and faster
