Bruno Odisio: Ablation Margins Are Software-Dependent
Bruno Odisio, Professor – Interventional Radiology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:
”Ablation margins are software-dependent.
Using 15M in-silico simulations, Iwan Paolucci demonstrated that the 5-mm A0 rule is reliable only when ablation confirmation software achieves ≤3-mm segmentation/registration error.
Implications:
– Do not assume a universal 5-mm A0 margin is reliable across all ablation confirmation platforms.
– Interpret margins in the context of software performance, particularly segmentation and registration accuracy.”
