Alexis Guédon: Cardiovascular Risk Profiles and Outcomes in Patients With Giant Cell Arteritis
Alexis Guédon, Junior Deputy Editor at the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
“I’m very happy to announce that our latest research article has just been published online ahead of print in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology!
In this large nationwide cohort study, we examined the cardiovascular risk profiles and outcomes of patients with Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) compared to matched control populations. Our findings highlight significantly increased risks of MACE, aortic, peripheral arterial, and visceral artery events in GCA patients – underscoring the critical importance of cardiovascular risk management and inflammation control in this population.
Key insights include:
- GCA is associated with elevated risk of major vascular complications.
- Disease activity is associated with major adverse cardiovascular events, highlighting the role of systemic inflammation.
Many thanks to all co-authors and collaborators who made this work possible!
