Gokul Patil Receives AHA Funding to Investigate Thrombo-Inflammatory Mechanisms Underlying Long COVID

“Dr. Gokul Patil has received postdoctoral research funding from the American Heart Association (AHA) to investigate thrombo-inflammatory mechanisms underlying Long COVID. His research focuses on how immune dysregulation, platelet activation, complement activation, and extracellular traps contribute to persistent vascular and inflammatory complications in individuals recovering from SARS-CoV-2 infection.
By elucidating these mechanisms, the study aims to identify potential therapeutic targets to reduce long-term cardiovascular and thrombotic risks associated with Long COVID. This work builds on ongoing studies of immune complex-mediated platelet activation, NETosis, and complement-driven inflammation, providing new insights into post-viral vascular pathology.”
