“As a transfusion medicine specialist, I often emphasize the importance of early Antibody Screening in pregnancy.
Haemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN) is a preventable yet potentially life-threatening condition.
Timely antenatal antibody screening, appropriate monitoring, and interventions like intrauterine transfusion (IUT) or phototherapy can save lives and prevent permanent neurological damage.
Prevention and vigilance remain our strongest tools.”
