Augustina Isioma Ikusemoro: Blood as a Living System of Survival, Protection, Identity, and Healing
Augustina Isioma Ikusemoro, Hematology and Transfusion Medicine Specialist at Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The life in blood
Blood is not just a fluid flowing through our veins.
It is a living system of survival, protection, identity, and healing.
Every drop carries oxygen to sustain life.
Every drop defends us against infection.
Every drop helps repair injury.
Every drop tells the story of who we are — through our DNA, immunity, and resilience.
Yet most people only think about blood when it is urgently needed.
This visual reminds us of a powerful truth:
- Blood connects science with humanity
- Blood connects donors with patients
- Blood connects systems with survival
And in emergencies — trauma, maternal hemorrhage, cancer care, surgery — blood becomes the difference between life and loss.
When we protect our blood, support donation systems, and encourage voluntary donors, we are not just supporting healthcare.
We are protecting life itself.
Because when you honor blood, you honor life.”
