“Last week at the World Federation of Hemophilia , World Congress 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, I had the opportunity to contribute as a speaker, session chair, and delegate representing South Africa through the South African Haemophilia Foundation.
I presented in a session exploring how we better engage older people with bleeding disorders, and moderated a poster session that reflected the breadth of global research and innovation in our field.
Across the Congress, one thing was clear, there is strong momentum around the next generation of therapies and treatment pipelines.
The science is evolving, and the possibilities for patient outcomes are expanding.
At a global level, this is encouraging.
But it also raises an important question:
Are our systems in the global south evolving at the same pace as our science?”
