Benjamin Spurgeon: What’s next for Platelet Function Testing?
Benjamin Spurgeon, Associate Director of Diagnostic Hematology Versiti Inc, shared a post on LinkedIn about his a recent article published in RPTH, adding:
“What’s next for Platelet Function Testing?
For too long, patients with bleeding disorders, particularly those who are thrombocytopenic, pediatric, or in remote areas, have had limited access to reliable platelet function testing.
Flow cytometry is helping to expand those possibilities.
By allowing sensitive analysis of platelets in whole blood with small sample volumes, it offers a way to broaden access to advanced testing and explore new insights into platelet function.
Building on my remarks in Washington, D.C., this article in RPTH Journal explores where platelet flow cytometry may be headed.

- Why a focused panel of validated markers may provide the greatest clinical relevance
- The potential for scalable, more widely accessible platelet testing”
