“Patient Blood Management (PBM) represents a qualifying element of the evolution of care models, focusing on the appropriate and personalized management of the patient’s blood throughout the entire care pathway.
Its implementation requires overcoming an exclusively transfusion approach and adopting a multidisciplinary, integrated and patient-centric vision, capable of intervening early on anemia, containing blood loss and optimizing tolerance to anemia.
In this perspective, PBM takes on a value that goes beyond the reduction of blood component consumption: it represents a tool for clinical appropriateness, safety of care, sustainability and improvement of outcomes.”
