Alyaa Al-Mughairy: First Pediatric Case of Successful DOAC Treatment in a Clinical Setting
Alyaa Al-Mughairy, Pediatric Hematology Oncology Senior Consultant at Ministry of Health Oman, and National Oncology Centre at Royal Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We had an interesting discussion this morning presented by one of our enthusiastic pediatrics Omsb resident Dr Shaima Al suror, focusing on the diagnosis and management of a complex challenging case of massive pediatric Venous Thromboembolism (VTE).
The case required an intensive, multi-modal approach involving multiple sessions of thrombolysis and thrombectomy later successfully transitioned to dual anticoagulation including direct oral anticoagulation (DOAC).
This represents the first pediatric case in our clinical setting to be successfully treated with DOAC.
We remain dedicated to advancing clinical management to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care.”
