Rena D. Sukhdeo Singh: Celebrating the Launch of Stroke Smart West Virginia
Rena D. Sukhdeo Singh, Vascular Neurologist at Charleston Area Medical Center, shared on LinkedIn:
”As Stroke Awareness Month comes to a close, I was to express my gratitude to the healthcare leaders from across the state from Vandalia Health, WVU Medicine, Marshall Health Network and especially the Department of Health for their support in getting the video for Stroke Smart West Virginia launched.
It has been a profound honor to help lead the Stroke Smart State effort that hopes to teach every West Virginian about the signs, symptoms and risk factors of stroke.
Stroke remains a leading cause of death and disability.
If we can recognize that a stroke is happening, EMS/911 can be initiated and a patient can get treatment sooner leading to decreased disability, death and long term health costs to the patient and health system.
We hope to continue this momentum to ensure every person in West Virginia can spot a stroke, stop a stroke and save a life!
Please watch the Stroke Smart West Virginia information video.”
