William Aird: Introducing The Blood Project’s CAD Topic Module
William Aird, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m delighted to announce the launch of The Blood Project’s newest Topic Module:
Cold Agglutinin Disease (CAD).
Our goal was not simply to create another disease summary, but rather a comprehensive learning environment that helps clinicians, trainees, educators, and patients understand CAD from multiple perspectives.
The module includes:
- Foundational science and pathophysiology
- Diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making
- Treatment strategy and therapeutic sequencing
- Landmark studies and Journal Club reviews
- Expert video lectures
- A Beyond the Guidelines roundtable discussion
- Patient-centered resources and podcast conversations
- Clinical cases, quizzes, infographics, and knowledge checks
- Perspectives from history of medicine, evolutionary medicine, and the humanities
I am especially grateful to our co-editors, Catherine Broome and Ishan Tatake, whose expertise and vision helped shape the module.
I am also grateful to the outstanding international faculty, including Catherine Broome, Sigbjørn Berentsen, Bruno Fattizzo, Yoshitaka Miyakawa, Marc Michel, Ilene Weitz, and many others, whose contributions brought the module to life.
At The Blood Project, we believe that learning is richest when it extends beyond facts and guidelines to include reasoning, uncertainty, communication, and lived experience.
We hope this module reflects that philosophy.
I invite you to explore the module and share it with colleagues, trainees, and patients who may find it useful.”
