Emmanuel J. Favaloro: Honored to Receive the ISLH Wallace H. Coulter Distinguished Lecture Award
Emmanuel J. Favaloro, Lead Scientist at the Sydney Centres for Thrombosis and Haemostasis at Westmead Hospital, Editor in Chief of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m going to Pasadena, California!
Well, not until 2027.
Honored to have been awarded the Wallace H. Coulter Distinguished Lecture Award by the International Society for Laboratory Hematology.
This award celebrates Wallace H. Coulter’s many outstanding contributions to humanity and his many inventions and innovations that advanced the field of laboratory hematology and many other areas of medicine and science.
Not least of these was the discovery of The Coulter Principle, the most widely used method for counting and sizing microscopic particles suspended in a fluid.
This method formed the basis of the modern Complete (or Full) Blood Count (or CBC/FBC), and is considered the first viable basis for flow cytometry.
From this grew an industry that forever changed the world of diagnostic medical research.
Co-founder, former chairman and president of the Coulter Corporation, since morphed into Beckman Coulter, a true giant of hematology.”
