Roberta Gualtierotti: Point-of-Care SPR Device for Rapid Detection of Anti-PEG Antibodies
Roberta Gualtierotti, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Milan, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in scientific reports, nature, adding:
“Excited to share this new work on a point-of-care SPR device for rapid detection of anti-PEG antibodies by Laura Pasquardini et al
PEGylation is widely used in biologic drugs, including extended half-life FVIII products for hemophilia A, to improve safety and efficacy.
However, PEG itself may trigger anti-PEG antibodies, potentially causing loss of treatment efficacy.
Our study presents a portable, low-cost platform capable of detecting anti-PEG IgG and IgM in just 15 minutes from human plasma, with nanomolar sensitivity and strong agreement with other methods (SPR and ELISA).
A step forward toward personalized monitoring of PEG immunogenicity and safer use of PEGylated therapies.”
