10 Posts Not To Miss from ISTH 2026, Part 3
ISTH 2026 in Paris brought together specialists, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the world to share ideas and explore the latest advances in thrombosis and hemostasis.
Throughout the Congress, attendees had the opportunity to discover new research, discuss evolving clinical practices, and learn about emerging approaches across a broad range of topics, including thromboembolic disease, anticoagulation, bleeding disorders, and innovations that have the potential to improve patient care.
Beyond the outstanding scientific program, ISTH 2026 was also a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange experiences, and discuss studies that may help shape future research and everyday clinical practice.
Below are 10 standout posts from ISTH 2026 highlighting key updates, breakthroughs and discussions from the Congress.
Santagata Davide, Resident in Internal Medicine at University of Insubria:
“A great session and an incredible opportunity to present our research at ISTH 2026 in Paris.
It was a privilege to share our work with colleagues from around the world and to contribute to the scientific discussion in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis. These moments remind me how valuable international collaboration and constructive feedback are for advancing research.
A sincere thank you to my mentors, collaborators, and co-authors for their continuous support, and to everyone who attended the session, asked insightful questions, and shared their perspectives.
Looking forward to bringing home new ideas, new collaborations, and renewed motivation for the projects ahead.”

Stefano Navarro, Postdoctoral Researcher at Rudolf Virchow Center of University of Würzburg:
“Looking forward to present today our article recently published in Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) in Paris!
See you at the poster session!”

Pascal Boulanger, Director of Corporate Communications at Stago:
“Welcome to the ISTH 2026 – Day 2!
Among the many features that make the Stago booth one of the most compelling and most visited of the congress, we invite you to take a moment to send a postcard back to your lab staff.
Booth 703″

Fionnuala Ní Áinle, Consultant Haematologist at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital:
“The long awaited LEAD study has just been presented at ISTH 2026 by Prof Marc Rodger. Amazing achievement and first high quality data evaluating a diagnostic algorithm for suspected DVT in pregnancy.
Pre specified secondary outcome suggests impressive safety data using trimester – adjusted D-dimers:
For LEFt score less than 2 and D-dimer below trimester-specific threshold (40% of all patients):
- 1st trimester: less than 500 ng/mL
- 2nd trimester: less than 750 ng/mL
- 3rd trimester: less than 1000 ng/mL
- 120/298 (40.3%)
Adjudicated VTE: 0/119
- Failure rate 0%
- 95% CI 0.0-3.1%
Congratulation also to Marc Righini, Grégoire Le Gal, Helia Robert-Ebadi and to the power of networks : INVENT-VTE“

Jessica Garcia, Pediatric Hematologist, Hemostasis and Thrombosis Specialist at UT Southwestern Medical Center:
“Honored to present at International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) this year in Paris.
Our poster highlighted thrombin generation patterns in a patient with type 3 VWD with inhibitor on emicizumab prophylaxis, including both in vitro spiking with recombinant FVIIa and in vivo peri‑operative data.
A great discussion on how global assays can capture (and sometimes challenge) what we expect clinically.”

Alfonso J. Tafur, Board Member VAS European Independent Foundation in Angiology and Vasculearn Network:
“Excited to share work from our CAIN analysis — presenting at ISTH 2026 in Paris
Perioperative Care in Cancer
Cancer patients on blood thinners face a uniquely difficult moment when surgery can’t wait.
We pooled data from two rigorous randomized VTE trials (ADAM VTE with EVE) to ask:
What actually happens when we interrupt anticoagulation for a procedure in cancer-associated thrombosis?
What we found – 179 patients, 290 procedures:
- Bleeding risk was approximately 3 times higher with injectable LMWH (dalteparin) vs. oral apixaban
- Zero recurrent blood clots at 30 days – in any group
- Procedure ‘risk category’ alone didn’t predict who bled – the low and moderate risk group had the highest bleeding rate
The precision medicine takeaway:
Anticoagulant choice, cancer biology, and individual context all matter – and apixaban appears to offer a more manageable perioperative profile.
This is exactly the kind of individualized, data-driven decision-making that precision medicine promises — now applied to one of oncology’s most common and understudied clinical scenarios.”

Sara Zalghout, Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at KU Leuven:
“Beyond listening to outstanding research, ISTH 2026 offers an incredible opportunity to connect with colleagues, build meaningful relationships, and network with professionals from all over the world! (even people that became great friends).
Here are some selfies and photos of the great people I met today.
It was so lovely to see you again or meet you for the first time!
Thanks ISTH!!
Evi Stavrou, Amy Shapiro, Olivera Miladinovic, Florije Raka, David Ku, Joseph Pierre Aboumsallem, Mouna Mahmoud, Joshua Muia you all look great ( dont say I chose the one I am the one looking good).”

Brian O Mahony, CEO of Irish Haemophilia Society:
“Feng Xue on BBM-H901 at ISTH 2026, FIX Gene therapy developed in China.
Approved in China April 2025.
Mean FIX expression after 2 years 61% Distribution:
- 76% FIX more than 40 ,
- 20% FIX less than 40,
- 10% FIX less than 20,
- 5% FIX less than 10,
- 2% FIX less than 2″

Ruah Alyamany, Associate Consultant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center:
“Numerically better quality of life in ITP patients who received Rom with Dex vs. Dex alone as initial Rx.
Combination therapy for the win.”

Julia R. Coleman, Faculty Surgeon in Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and Burn at The Ohio State University:
“Fantastic first day at ISTH 2026
Yesterday – the programming around sex differences in platelets and the impact of the hormonal access on hemostasis and thrombosis has been amazing!”
