Mahmood Naseri: The Results of the 2nd Clinical Trial on AriClot Are Now Live in Burns Journal
Mahmood Naseri, President of Healda Inc, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article by Abdolkhalegh Keshavarzi et al, published in Burns Journal, adding:
”I am thrilled to announce that the results of the second clinical trial on Healda’s hemostatic starch powder (AriClot) have been published in the prestigious Burns Journal (Elsevier).
In this prospective, randomized intra-patient controlled trial involving 30 burn patients, we compared our modified starch powder (AriClot) against the standard epinephrine-soaked gauze for hemostasis during debridement.
Key Highlights:
- Time to hemostasis reduced from a median of 5 minutes (epinephrine) to just 1.5 minutes with starch powder (p < 0.001).
- Bleeding flow rate significantly lower: 3 ml/min/TBSA% vs. 7 ml/min/TBSA% (p < 0.001).
- Surgeon satisfaction rated as ‘Perfect’ in 76.67% of starch applications vs. only 10% for control (p < 0.001).
- Lower wound infection rates in the starch group (p = 0.027).
- No significant differences in graft loss or ischemia – confirming safety and efficacy.
This novel carboxymethyl starch-based agent offers a fast-acting, easy-to-apply, and safe solution for diffuse bleeding in large, irregular burn wounds—addressing a critical unmet need in burn surgery.
Grateful to our incredible team and collaborators for their dedication to advancing patient care.
