Aremu David: From Hemophilia Camp Friendship to Digital Innovation in Tic Tac Toe

“At Camp Braveheart, a hemophilia camp, I met someone who loved X and O as much as I did — and was better at it than me.
We played all week.
Then camp ended and we went home, to opposite ends of the country.
That’s why I built Nine.
It’s X and O for the web.
Open a link and you’re playing: no install, no signup, no account.
One person starts a game, the other scans the code, and you’re in a match in about three seconds.
When nobody’s around, there’s an opponent that adapts to how you actually play – rather than being unbeatable, or quietly letting you win.
It works offline, and it keeps your games even if you never make an account.
For the engineers: TypeScript end to end, with the same rules engine running in the browser and on the server so a move can’t be faked.
Tic-tac-toe has only 5,478 reachable positions, so the whole game is solved in memory at startup in about 7ms — which meant shipping no lookup tables at all, and keeping the critical path under 95KB.”
