Danny Gaskin: Transfusion Practitioners at the Heart of Maternity and Anti-D Care
Danny Gaskin, Lead Specialist at NHS Blood and Transplant, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“My time as Chair of the British Blood Transfusion Society Transfusion Practitioner Group has come to an end, and what a lovely way to conclude my term with a brilliant session this morning at the SEC in Glasgow for BBTS 2026, exploring the challenges around maternity care and anti-D prophylaxis.
I’m very excited to introduce Samantha Bonney as the new Chair of the group.
I’m absolutely certain that Sam will take the group to new heights and achieve so much on behalf of Transfusion Practitioners across the UK.
A huge thank you to all the TPs who welcomed and supported me as your interim Chair over the past year while we recruited a new Chair, despite me not being a TP myself!
I’ve always said that this group is best led by a TP, by someone who really understands the challenges, priorities and interests of TPs.
So I’m really pleased that, as my time as Chair comes to an end, the group is being handed over to a TP who can take it forward.
It’s been a real privilege to play a small part in the group over the past year.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed, supported our sessions and helped make the SIG what it is.
