Ahmad Al-Ramahi: Presenting the Military Pharmacists Blood Training Course at the FIP World Congress
Ahmad Al-Ramahi, Special Authorization Manager at Canadian Blood Services, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Proud to see a project I’ve had the opportunity to help build reach an international audience. Our Military Pharmacists Blood Training Course was recently presented at the 84th International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress in Montreal during a session of FIP’s Military and Emergency Pharmacy Section (MEPS).
I’m grateful to have contributed as one of the course authors under the leadership of Sylvain Grenier, OMM, CD, B Pharm, PharmD, FFIP, FOPQ, who presented the program at FIP, alongside Nisha Varughese and Aditi Khandelwal.
The course is designed to strengthen pharmacists’ knowledge and preparedness in blood and transfusion medicine within military and operational environments.
The program covers:
- Blood and blood components overview
- Blood program structure and emergency blood collection (walking blood banks)
- Blood logistics, transportation and cold-chain management
- Clinical transfusion and related operational considerations
It has been especially rewarding to see interest in the course extending beyond pharmacists to other healthcare professionals involved in military medicine, emergency preparedness, transfusion support and medical logistics.
If this area is relevant to your work – or to someone in your network – I’d encourage you to explore the course and share it with colleagues who may benefit.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the development and review of the program, and to the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and MEPS for the opportunity to share this work with an international audience.”
