Ria Ahuja: Scaling Evidence-Informed Anemia Interventions Through Training

Ria Ahuja, Senior Program Officer of Nutrition Programs at Jhpiego, National Consultant in Nutrition Division in the Ministry Of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“We are now moving to the next critical step – building capacity for effective implementation for Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

A National Training of Trainers (ToT) on Anemia is being undertaken to orient and equip trainers on the updated guidelines, strengthened interventions and implementation approaches.

The ToT will help create a cascade of trained master trainers who can take these learnings forward across States and UTs, ensuring that the updated guidance translates into consistent, evidence-informed action on the ground.

Quality training is key to effective implementation.

With newer strategies under AMB, including a focus on Eating Right, it is equally important to understand the principles of healthy eating while recognizing that what works in Tamil Nadu may not necessarily work in Assam.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we need to stay connected to our roots, understand what people already eat, and explore how to strengthen these practices to improve nutrition.

Effective implementation is not just about knowing what to do, but understanding what works, where, and for whom.”
