Louise St. Germain Bannon: Improving Awareness and Care for Women Across the Lifespan
Louise St. Germain Bannon, Interim Executive Director at International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), shared Melinda French Gates’s post on LinkedIn, adding:
“This is so important.
At the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), we’re working to elevate these issues and bring greater attention to the unique bleeding and clotting risks women face throughout their lives.
We recently launched the ISTH Women’s Health Hub, bringing together trusted information on both bleeding and clotting for clinicians and for women themselves.
And through World Thrombosis Day, we’re helping raise awareness globally about women’s risk of thrombosis across the lifespan.
We need more women represented in clinical trials.
We need better research, better education and better access to care.
And we need to keep breaking down the disparities that have left women’s health overlooked for far too long!
There is so much opportunity to make a difference here, and ISTH is committed to being part of that work.
We’re always happy to collaborate and help move this forward.”
Melinda French Gates, Founder of Pivotal, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“More than 50% of U.S. women have had a negative experience seeking healthcare in the last five years.
And 42% said their health has limited their careers.
When women can’t get the care they need, it impacts every aspect of their lives.
Pivotal partnered with Gallup to conduct one of the most expansive surveys on women’s health and opportunity ever fielded.
What we found was that, for women, barriers to care too often become barriers to opportunity.”
