Emicizumab for Refractory GI Bleeding in Myeloma-Associated Acquired VWD – JTH
Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Milan Vujčić et al., adding:
“Multimodal management of refractory gastrointestinal bleeding in myeloma-associated acquired von Willebrand syndrome: a role for emicizumab prophylaxis
A 72-year-old woman with IgG kappa myeloma and gastrointestinal angiodysplasia had recurrent life-threatening bleeding refractory to factor concentrates, immunoglobulin, plasmapheresis and endoscopy.
Subcutaneous emicizumab with octreotide and ongoing anti-myeloma therapy achieved complete cessation of bleeding despite persistently undetectable von Willebrand factor activity, with 12 months transfusion-free and ECOG 0.”
