X. Long Zheng: From ADAMTS13 to New TTP Treatment
X. Long Zheng, Professor and Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The University of Kansas, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I had a great time as a visiting professor at Montefiore Medical Center to meet with pathology residents/faculty and discuss the 100-year research and development in TTP (thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura).
Progress has been particularly accelerated since the molecular identification and cloning of ADAMTS13, a key enzyme that is deficient in patients with TTP.
ADAMTS13 is now a FDA-approved drug for treatment of congenital TTP.”
