Mohammed A. AlOmar: What Characterizes Young Stroke in the UAE?
Mohammed A. AlOmar, Scholar at Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, Medical Intern at EHSUAE, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Frontiers in Neurology, adding:
“Proud to see our work published and available for others to read and build on.
In this paper, we looked at what characterizes young stroke in the UAE.
We reviewed every young stroke case at our hospital over six years and analyzed the data to better understand a population that remains relatively understudied.
What started as a study of stroke etiology ended up highlighting a broader primary care gap. Younger stroke patients carried a high cardiometabolic burden, but we also found evidence of underdiagnosis, particularly when compared with reported data from other parts of the world.
