Biplab K Saha: Updating the Clinical Approach to IPH
Biplab K Saha, Associate Professor of Medicine at Indiana University Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am excited to share that the UpToDate topic on idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis (IPH) has been updated.
I had the privilege of co-authoring the topic with Nils Thorm Milman, who has been a mentor to me over the years.
IPH is a rare cause of recurrent diffuse alveolar hemorrhage affecting patients of any age but more common in children.
It is a diagnosis of exclusion and the accurate diagnosis is often delayed.
Recurrent bleeding can lead to pulmonary fibrosis and development of end stage lung disease requiring lung transplantation.
The chapter reviews clinical features, treatment, and prognosis.
I am truly grateful for the collaboration and the opportunity to keep this resource current for clinicians who encounter this uncommon disease throughout the world.”
