‘Thrombophilia Workup and PNH Screening: Who to Test, When to Test, and When Testing Can Do Harm.’
- Right patient: Test when results may change management.
- Right time: Acute thrombosis and anticoagulants can distort results.
- Don’t miss APS: Triple positive APS generally warrants warfarin over DOACs.
- Think PNH: Consider screening in unusual site thrombosis, hemolysis, or cytopenias.
- Avoid harm: Inappropriate testing can lead to false diagnoses, unnecessary lifelong anticoagulation, and anxiety.
The goal is not to test more , it is to test better.”
