Christine L. Kempton: Impostor Syndrome in Physicians

Christine L. Kempton, Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about her recent article, published in KevinMD, adding:

“When I received my first invitation to speak at the American Society of Hematology’s annual meeting, I read the email several times to be sure it was real.

Before I had even told my husband, I was already wondering when they would discover I wasn’t who they thought I was.

I had imagined that reaching certain milestones would quiet that fear.

Yet here was an invitation I once would have considered proof that I belonged, and the same question followed me there.

How much more accomplished did I need to become before I could believe what other people seemed to see?

I explore it in my latest KevinMD article.

If you’ve ever thought, ‘Surely by now I should feel differently,’ I hope you’ll read it.”
