Omid Seidizadeh: Improving Access to von Willebrand Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Across Europe

Omid Seidizadeh, Research Leader of the A. Bianchi Bonomi Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in The Official Journal of the World Federation of Hemophilia, adding:

“I’m pleased to share our new publication on diagnostic and treatment practices for von Willebrand disease across Europe, conducted on behalf of the EAHAD VWD Working Group.

This survey, involving 62 hemophilia centers across 27 countries, provides an overview of current diagnostic approaches, laboratory capabilities, genetic testing, and access to treatment.

Our findings highlight important disparities in access to specialized diagnostic assays and recombinant VWF, emphasizing the need for more harmonized diagnostic pathways and equitable access to care across Europe.

A big thank you to all participating centers and my colleagues at the EAHAD VWD Working.”
