Anirban Sen Gupta: From Flow to Clot Insights Into Hemostasis and Thrombosis

Anirban Sen Gupta, Wallace R. Persons Professor of Engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Studying clot formation under relevant flow environment is critical for hemostasis and thrombosis research.

To that end, some amazing microfluidic models of blood coagulation have been developed across several labs.

While these elegant models provide valuable insight into mechanisms of blood clotting, each is a ‘custom’ system not easily accessible universally for plug-and-play use by researchers.

With this rationale, over the past few years our Sen Gupta Lab team at Case Western Reserve University Department of Biomedical Engineering has been exploring several commercially available (hence universally accessible) microfluidic systems to study the extent of information we can gather regarding blood clotting behavior and nuances.

Our very own Dante Disharoon and Bipin Chakravarthy Paruchuri will present their experiences today about the Bio Flux platform from cell microsystems in a webinar.”
