Anthony Yazbeck։ The ‘Golden Blood’ – The World’s Rarest Blood Type

Anthony Yazbeck, Application Specialist at Atom Medical-Dora, shared a post on LinkedIn:

”Did you know there’s a blood type so rare that fewer than 50 people are known to have it worldwide? It’s called Rh-null, often nicknamed the ‘golden blood.’

  • Why it’s special: Rh-null lacks all 61 antigens of the Rh system, making it compatible with any Rh-positive or Rh-negative patient in emergencies.
  • The challenge: Because it’s so rare, finding a match for patients needing transfusions can be life-saving — but extremely difficult.
  • Who can help: Donors with Rh-null are global heroes. They are registered in rare donor programs and sometimes travel internationally to donate.

Fun fact: Just one donation of Rh-null blood can potentially save multiple lives in critical situations.
