Cheryl Carcel: Make The Stroke Research More Inclusive for Women, Take The Survey
Cheryl Carcel, Head of the Brain Health Program at The George Institute for Global Health, shared on LinkedIn:
”Stroke research needs women with lived experience—be part of making it more inclusive.
We are currently recruiting women with lived experience of stroke to take part in a focus group as part of a NHMRC-funded project exploring women’s participation in stroke clinical trials.
Women are often underrepresented in stroke research, which means studies may not fully reflect women’s experiences or needs.
This project aims to understand what makes it easier or harder for women to take part in research, and how recruitment and consent processes can be improved.
What’s involved?
- Participation in one small group discussion (approximately 60 minutes) about your experiences and views on being invited to participate in research
- Focus groups will be held in early July and will be conducted in-person at The George Institute or online via Teams
- Participation is voluntary
You will be reimbursed for your time and transport if required
You do not need to have taken part in a clinical trial before to be involved.
If you are a woman with lived experience of stroke and are interested in contributing, please complete the eligibility survey.”
