What is ITP? Raising Awareness for Immune Thrombocytopenia – ITP Australia and New Zealand
ITP Australia and New Zealand shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What is ITP?
Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets, the blood cells that help stop bleeding.
While some people experience few symptoms, others face ongoing challenges including bruising, bleeding and fatigue.
Every person’s experience is unique.
One of the biggest challenges for the ITP community is awareness.
Many people have never heard of ITP until they are personally affected by it.
As part of ITP Awareness Week, we’re sharing information to help educate the community, improve understanding, and support people living with this rare disease.
