Khalid A. Fakhro: Sidra Medicine Hosts RAPID 2026 Advancing Diagnostics and Treatments for Inborn Errors of Immunity
Khalid A. Fakhro, Chief Research Officer at Sidra Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Very proud of the organizing team and the strong turnout at Sidra Medicine’s 2nd Recent Advances in Primary Immunodysregulation Disorders Conference (RAPID2026).
We were honored to host more than 350 clinicians, scientists, and trainees from around the world for three days of learning, collaboration, and inspiring clinical research.
Key topics this year included integrating multi-omic technologies and AI into diagnostics for inborn errors of immunity (IEI), advancing targeted treatments like gene therapy for these debilitating conditions, and sessions targeting trainee development in this fast-growing field.
A major highlight was the strong attendance from across the MENAT region (Middle East, North Africa and Turkey), which faces a high burden of immune dysregulation disorders.
To address this, we were proud to announce the kick-off of the ‘MENAT Inborn Errors of Immunity Research Consortium Registry’ – a vital initiative backed by a new U.S.-MENAT collaborative funding framework for cross-border IEI research.
We were also excited to announce the MENAT Delphi initiative uniting regional experts to develop consensus clinical recommendations.
A heartfelt congratulations to our co-chairs Bernice Lo and Mohammed Yousuf Karim, the organizing and scientific committees, speakers, trainees, and sponsors who made this event a success..
Very special thanks to the Jeffrey Modell Foundation for generously sponsoring travel grants to bring trainee clinicians and scientists to RAPID 2026!
Thank you to everyone who traveled to share their expertise.
By increasing awareness of these Rare Disorders and fostering collaboration, we move closer to earlier diagnoses, better treatments, and an improved quality of life for our patients.
Already looking forward to the next RAPID meeting!”
