Maia Meier: Turning Achievement into Advocacy for Women with Bleeding Disorders
Maia Meier, Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Maia Letitia Fitness, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Standing on the summit of Mont Blanc was never the finish line.
Just three days later, I found myself inside the European Parliament in Brussels alongside the European Haemophilia Consortium, meeting with Members of the European Parliament, policy advisors and health representatives to advocate for women and girls living with bleeding disorders.
Together, we discussed issues that continue to impact women around the world:
- Delayed diagnosis
- Lack of awareness among healthcare professionals
- Underrepresentation in clinical research
- The need for stronger policies that improve access to care
These conversations matter because policy shapes healthcare.
Better research leads to better evidence.
Better evidence leads to earlier diagnosis, better treatment, and ultimately a better quality of life.
This week reminded me that Project Elevate Her isn’t only about climbing mountains.
It’s about creating opportunities to bring the voices of women with bleeding disorders into rooms where decisions are made.
A huge thank you to the European Haemophilia Consortium for believing in this project and for opening these doors.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to meet with us and engage in these important conversations.
The climb may be over.
The work is just beginning.”
