Rob Maloney: Hemophilia of Georgia Exists to Build the Support System Around People Living with Bleeding Disorders

Rob Maloney, Chief Executive Officer of Hemophilia of Georgia, shared on LinkedIn:

”When people first hear about Hemophilia of Georgia, they often assume we’re a clinic.

Or maybe a pharmacy or a nonprofit that helps fund research.

The truth is we are something a little harder to explain, and that’s actually our strength.

Hemophilia of Georgia exists to build the support system around people living with bleeding disorders.

That includes medicine, of course. But it goes far beyond that.

  • We help fund the hemophilia treatment centers that care for patients across the state.
  • We support physicians so they have protected time for research and innovation.
  • We provide social workers, nurses, and case managers who walk alongside families.
  • We run camps where children with bleeding disorders can experience independence and confidence.

We help schools, dentists, emergency rooms, and primary care doctors understand how to treat these patients when they encounter them.

We don’t just support treatment, but the entire ecosystem that allows a person with hemophilia to live a full life.

That approach didn’t happen overnight. It grew over decades through thoughtful leadership, partnerships with physicians and hospitals, and a commitment to reinvest resources back into the community.

Today roughly 2,000 people in Georgia live with hemophilia or related bleeding disorders.

Our job is to make sure that every one of them has access not only to medication, but to knowledge, community, and coordinated care.

Because when the ecosystem works, the patient doesn’t have to navigate it alone.”
