Ruchi Punamia: The Journey from Research to First Published Book Chapter on Single Donor Platelets
Ruchi Punamia, Assistant Professor at D Y Patil Hospital, Author and Founder of The Blood Blog, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Pause. Look Back. Celebrate Your Wins.
Some dreams take time, effort, countless revisions and a little bit of courage to finally become reality.
And today, I am taking a moment to celebrate one such milestone, seeing my first published work finally in print!
My contribution to Chapter 6 – Single Donor Platelets: Use and Indications – in this handbook has been a truly special journey.
From reading, researching and putting thoughts into words to finally holding the published book in my hands… the feeling is indescribable!
Grateful to the editors, mentors, colleagues and everyone who encouraged and supported me along the way.
But there’s something else I want to share through this post.
- We are often so focused on our next goal that we forget to celebrate the milestones we’ve already achieved.
- We keep moving the finish line.
- We compare our journeys.
- We tell ourselves, ‘There’s still so much more to do.’
And in that pursuit, we sometimes forget to acknowledge our own progress.
So here’s a gentle reminder to you:
- Celebrate your first publication.
- Celebrate your first presentation.
- Celebrate the project you finally completed.
- Celebrate the skill you learned, the fear you overcame and the little steps that brought you forward.
Not every win needs to be a national award or a major recognition.
Sometimes, the smallest milestones are the biggest reminders of how far we’ve travelled.
Today, I’m celebrating this chapter – literally and figuratively!
What is one achievement you haven’t celebrated enough?
Tell me in the comments.
Let’s celebrate each other’s wins!”
