Shayan Mohammadmoradi: Why Cardiovascular Research in Kentucky Is More Than Just Publishing Papers
Shayan Mohammadmoradi, Vascular Biology and Platelet Function Scientist at University of Kentucky, CEO at Moradi Enterprise, shared on LinkedIn:
“In my recent op-ed, I reflect on why doing this work here in Kentucky carries urgency and responsibility.
Every discovery has the potential to directly impact the people around us.
At the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, we are uniquely positioned at the forefront of cardiovascular research.
Through centers like the Cardiovascular Research Center and the Barnstable Brown Diabetes and Obesity Center, and Gill Heart and Vascular Institur UK integrates basic science, translational research, and clinical care under one roof.
That proximity, lab to clinic to community, accelerates impact in ways few institutions can.
As a scientist and volunteer leader with American Heart Association, I also see how national advocacy, research funding, and community engagement amplify what we do locally.
Science, policy, and prevention must move together.
Cardiovascular research in Kentucky is not just about publishing papers.
It is about responsibility.
It is about regional leadership.
It is about changing outcomes where the need is greatest.”
