Tagreed Alkaltham: Beyond the Blood Bank – How Strong Systems Save Lives Before Emergencies Begin
Tagreed Alkaltham, Transfusion Medicine Lab Supervisor at KSMC, shared a post onĀ LinkedIn:
“When people think about a blood bank, they often think about blood units, compatibility testing, and emergency transfusions.
But behind every safe transfusion is something much larger: systems, leadership, quality, communication, preparedness, and responsibility.
Transfusion medicine is not only about blood. It is about decisions made under pressure, processes that must function with precision, and teams working quietly to protect patient safety every day.
Beyond the Blood Bank was created to explore transfusion medicine from multiple perspectives beyond the technical bench work alone, while still valuing the importance of the bench itself and the routine daily work that keeps the system functioning safely.
This publication will discuss topics related to blood bank leadership, governance, quality, patient safety, operational challenges, routine laboratory practice, system resilience, and the human side of transfusion medicine.
Because in healthcare, strong systems save lives long before emergencies begin.”
