“A bit delayed, but I had the privilege of attending ACC.26 in New Orleans last month.
I presented our analysis from the COMMAND VTE Registry-2 examining management and outcomes of venous thromboembolism (VTE) across renal function and hemodialysis status.
A key takeaway: bleeding risk in VTE patients is not driven by eGFR alone—being on hemodialysis itself confers additional bleeding risk, beyond what renal function metrics capture.
This nuance matters when we counsel patients on anticoagulation strategy.
It was also my first time in New Orleans, and the jazz culture was a wonderful surprise.
I’d love to go back.
