Tammuella Chrisentery-Singleton: Standing on the Shoulders of Giants in Hemophilia Care
Tammuella Chrisentery-Singleton, Chief Science Officer at American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network (ATHN), Co- Director Hemostasis and Thrombosis Program at Ochsner Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“One of the most meaningful moments of my time in Taiwan was having the honor of spending time with Dr. Ming Ching Shen, known as the ‘father of hemophilia treatment’ in Taiwan.
Dr. Shen established Taiwan’s first specialized hemophilia treatment center at National Taiwan University Hospital in 1984 laying the foundation for what would become a national network of specialized hemophilia care. His vision, leadership, and lifelong commitment to patients have shaped generations of hemophilia care in Taiwan.
To sit with someone who helped build the foundation of a field I have devoted my career to was truly humbling.
And then he referred to me as a hemophilia expert.
I honestly cannot begin to describe what that moment meant to me.
To be recognized by someone whose contributions helped shape hemophilia care in an entire country was an extraordinary honor and one I will carry with me for the rest of my career.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn from those who came before us, to stand on the shoulders of giants, and to continue advancing hemophilia care for the generations who come next.
Honored. Humbled. Blessed.”
