“High quality CPR is only part of successful cardiac arrest management.
Identifying and treating reversible causes is equally important for improving the chances of return of spontaneous circulation and survival.
A structured assessment of the Hs and Ts, along with evaluation of preload, contractility, afterload, and heart rhythm, can help rapidly identify treatable conditions such as hypoxia, hypovolemia, electrolyte abnormalities, cardiac tamponade, tension pneumothorax, pulmonary embolism, and coronary thrombosis.
Early recognition and prompt intervention can make a lifesaving difference.
