Deepika Chenna and Colleagues Present Systematic Review Data: Gaps in Prevention Drive Maternal Alloimmunization in India

Deepika Chenna, Additional Professor, Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at Kasturba Medical College, shared on LinkedIn:

“This systematic review showed that the overall prevalence of maternal red cell alloimmunization in India was 2 per 100. Anti-D was the most commonly identified antibody (56.4%). Despite the availability of anti-D prophylaxis, over half of the alloimmunised women had anti-D antibodies, indicating potential gaps in prevention strategies. Further research is needed to address this gap and minimize this preventable cause of fetal and neonatal complications”
