“Excited to announce the publication of my latest research in the International Journal of Hematology-Oncology and Stem Cell Research.
Title: Expression of the FAM132B Gene in Iranian Patients with Beta-Thalassemia
This study investigates the expression of the FAM132B gene, which encodes erythroferrone (ERFE), a key regulator of iron homeostasis, in Iranian patients with beta-thalassemia major (BTM) and intermedia (BTI).
Using SYBR Green-based real-time PCR (RT-PCR), we analyzed gene expression in 40 thalassemia patients and 20 healthy controls. Our findings revealed:
- Upregulation of FAM132B in BTI patients compared to BTM (p = 0.0151).
- No significant difference between thalassemia patients (BTM & BTI) and healthy controls.
These results highlight differential ERFE expression across thalassemia subtypes and suggest the need for further research into its potential as a therapeutic target.
Grateful to my collaborators and mentors for their support throughout this project.”
