Healthcare is a Human Right: Strengthening Blood Donation in Armenia
Heghine Khachatryan, Editor-in-Chief of Hemostasis Today, Head of Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, shared a post by Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, Ministry of Health of Armenia on LinkedIn:
”In today’s reality, issues of healthcare financing and management are extremely important.
In the context of healthcare financing, it is clear that we still have serious challenges related to accessibility and quality of services. Often, patients are forced to pay out of pocket or seek help through personal connections, instead of receiving care through a well-functioning, transparent system.
In this context, the role of the state is crucial.
– The introduction of modern IT technologies
– Increasing transparency and accountability, ensuring that resources reach the patient
This is not only a medical issue, but also a social one, because health is a fundamental value.
Yes, doctors may be dedicated, knowledgeable, and hardworking, but if the system itself does not create proper conditions, it is impossible to ensure real, sustainable healthcare development.
Healthcare is not a privilege.
It is a basic human right.
It is a value.”
Quoting Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, Ministry of Health of Armenia’s post:
” ‘Unity for Life’ – A Year’s Road Summary at the Yeolyan Center
Yesterday, under the heading ‘Unity for Life,’ the Yeolyan Center for Hematology and Oncology summarized an initiative that over the course of months turned into a nationwide movement, uniting Armenia’s medical institutions around one idea: saving lives.
The initiative, implemented in the format of the relay, included a number of regions of the republic and Yerevan, forming a culture of unpaid bloodshed, cooperation, and social responsibility to strengthen the health system.
The event was attended by Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan and Deputy Minister Armen Gasparyan, who highly appreciated the significance of the initiative and its impact on public health.
In his speech, Hayk Gregory, director of the Yolyan Center, emphasized the vital role of blood in medicine, emphasizing especially the active participation and concerted work of regional medical centers, which became one of the key components of the initiative’s success.
During the day, the employees of the Yolyan Center once again joined the unpaid bloodshed, confirming by their own example that humanity, dedication, and teamwork can turn into real salvation.
One of the most symbolic moments of the event was the joint image created with the center’s little nurses as a reminder that every bloodshed, every participation, and every unit is aimed at the future.
We thank the staff of the Yolyan Center for implementing the initiative, as well as all the medical institutions and partners who have brought this initiative to life for a year, believing in one idea:
