Pauline Morey: When Giving Life Shouldn’t Mean Losing One — A Fight Against Maternal Mortality
Pauline Morey, Project Manager at FIND, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Every day in the world, about 700 women die from causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. The main cause of maternal mortality is severe bleeding, which mostly happens during or after childbirth. This is so tragic, as these causes are largely preventable or treatable, with timely access to care.”
Quoting White Ribbon Alliance Kenya’s post:
““Too many women are still dying while giving life. I have seen it with my own eyes; in maternity wards, in health centres, and in the silence of families left behind. Postpartum haemorrhage remains the leading cause of maternal deaths. And the most painful truth? These deaths are preventable.”— Angela Nguku, Executive Director, White Ribbon Alliance Kenya.
As she heads to Cape Town for the FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) World Congress 2025, catch Angela’s first speaking engagement in the President’s Session on 5 October 2025, where she joins global leaders to face the maternal health crisis head-on.
“This conversation is not abstract for me — it is personal, it is urgent, and it demands action.”
Join the call to action: listen to women, invest in responsive health systems, and make preventable maternal deaths a thing of the past.”
