Peter Mezes Thanks Thrombosis UK and North Bristol NHS Trust for The Support
Peter Mezes, Consultant Vascular and Interventional Radiologist at North Bristol NHS Trust, reposted from North Bristol NHS Trust on LinkedIn:
”Very proud to be part of and work with this fantastic team every day.
Big thanks to Thrombosis UK for recognizing and to North Bristol NHS Trust for supporting the service.”
Quoting North Bristol NHS Trust‘s post:
”World Thrombosis Day
To celebrate World Thrombosis Day we’re highlighting our Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT), formed in 2023 and this years winner of a Thrombosis UK VTE Award for Quality Improvement Programme Advancing Practice in Thrombosis Prevention and Management.
Audit data from 2022 showed up to 10% of NBT patients with intermediate‑high risk Pulmonary Embolism died; PERT helps identify those who may benefit from mechanical thrombectomy, a minimally invasive catheter procedure to remove the clot.
The team has grown from 3 to over 20 clinicians and AHPs, is activated two to three times a month, and is improving care and outcomes across the region.
Congratulations to the team and thank you to Thrombosis UK, registered charity.”
