The Armenian American Health Professionals Organization (AAHPO) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Viken Babikian, Professor of Neurology, on being awarded the prestigious Mkhitar Heratsi Medal by the President of Armenia.
This distinguished honor recognizes Dr. Babikian’s remarkable contributions to neurology, stroke care, medical education and healthcare development. An internationally respected neurologist and stroke specialist, Dr. Babikian has dedicated his career to advancing patient care while generously sharing his expertise with colleagues around the world.
For many years, Dr. Babikian has been a steadfast supporter of Armenia’s healthcare community, helping to advance stroke awareness, physician education, and the development of modern stroke services throughout the country.
His mentorship, leadership, and commitment to improving healthcare outcomes have had a lasting impact on countless patients and healthcare professionals.
Named after Mkhitar Heratsi, the 12th-century physician widely regarded as the father of Armenian medicine, the Mkhitar Heratsi Medal is among Armenia’s highest honors in healthcare, recognizing exceptional contributions to medicine, public health, and medical education.
We celebrate this well-deserved recognition and thank Dr. Babikian for his lifelong dedication to advancing healthcare and inspiring future generations of medical professionals in Armenia, the diaspora and beyond.”
